We are Quasars, an Italian space rock band formed on 8 June 1995 by Flavio and Andrea, work colleagues brought together by a shared passion for music. Within the band, Flavio is responsible for the lyrics and lead vocals, while Andrea handles the music composition and overall sonic architecture, creating the band's sound through synthesisers, electronic drums and detailed arrangements. In April 2000, our friend and collaborator Giovanni joined the project, contributing electric guitar and bass. Quasars was conceived from the outset as a studio-based project. We have deliberately chosen not to perform live, largely because of the layered and complex nature of our music, which would be difficult to reproduce faithfully on stage. From the very beginning, our aim has been to create concept albums, and we have always made our music freely available online. Our first song, The Prophet, was written in 1996. It was followed by several other tracks, including an instrumental piece, which eventually led to the release of our debut album, Empty Spaces, in 2000. Although Quasars has always remained an amateur project pursued alongside our everyday lives and careers, our passion for music has never faded. This commitment inspired us to continue writing and recording new material, culminating in the release of our second album, Lightears, in 2008, another concept-driven work. From 2010 onwards, the band's activity slowed considerably as personal and professional commitments increasingly occupied our time. Nevertheless, Quasars never disbanded, and our connection with music remained as strong as ever. During this period, Andrea and Giovanni also pursued individual musical projects, exploring a variety of different styles and influences. Over the years, our sound has evolved while remaining rooted in the space rock tradition. The music has gradually developed warmer and more organic textures, while preserving the atmospheric qualities and sonic exploration that have always defined our work. On 8 June 2026, to mark the band's 31st anniversary, we released our third album, Many Horizons. The album features six tracks, including two instrumentals, and tells the story of a man who, overwhelmed by external pressures and expectations, gradually constructs a false identity until he can no longer distinguish it from his true self. Through a dreamlike and transformative journey, he is ultimately forced to confront reality and rediscover his authentic identity. More than three decades after its formation, Quasars remains a creative outlet driven by curiosity, imagination and a passion for storytelling through music.
